Body Waxing FAQs
Let it grow, let it grow! For the hair to be waxed off, it needs to be 1/4” or in other words, the length of a grain of rice.
First of all, relax! If you saw the Forty-Year-Old Virgin you may be scarred for life by the waxing scene, but I promise you that is absolutely NOT an accurate portrayal of a wax appointment. Second, avoid over-caffeinating yourself as caffeine can make your skin more sensitive. Third, if you think you have a low pain threshold, taking ibuprofen pre-appointment could be helpful. And last but not least, please take a shower.
We will talk about what you are having waxed, I will leave the room so you can disrobe and hop up onto the table. I will then explain what I am doing every step of the way – I will begin by wiping the skin with a cleanser, then apply a tiny bit of oil to the skin if it is dry – the oil helps prevent the wax from becoming one with your skin, or maybe apply a little powder to the skin especially if you are nervous and sweating – wax will not stick to damp skin. Depending on the area being waxed I will use hard or soft wax. Hard wax is applied, it dries on its own and then removed without having to use strips. Soft wax is applied and then a strip applied to the wax in order for removal. I will check in on you during the service and we will get through it swiftly with as little discomfort as possible. When the service is over I will cleanse the skin of any leftover wax residue and apply an ingrown hair prevention product and a soothing moisturizer. You will get dressed, possibly swear at me, and be on your way.
Everyone’s pain tolerance is different so there is no solid way to describe and rate what your level of discomfort will be. Yes, it can hurt – we will be pulling your hair out by the root. I can say that the faster I pull the strip off, the pain will be quick and will subside just as quickly. And in the end, almost everyone says “That is not as bad as I thought it would be.” If you know you have sensitive skin or a low pain tolerance, avoid caffeine the day of our appointment and take a few Ibuprofen 30 minutes or so before your appointment.
Yes, absolutely. If you are getting a bikini service, you will be required to use a tampon. Also be aware, that due to fluctuating hormones during the monthly cycle, your service may be more uncomfortable than usual, but most do not notice a difference.
Yes, absolutely. Ask your doctor if you think there will be an issue for you, but I have done Brazilian waxes on clients right up to two weeks before they gave birth. Please let me know if you are pregnant, I can adjust the table and prop you up in whatever way needed to make sure you are comfortable.
No. Having a friend in the room can be more embarrassing for you than you bargained for. Your service is not a spectator sport. I will allow moms in the room with an underage client.
I understand that there are times when child care is not available, but for liability reasons, it is not the best idea. If you do need to bring them, they will need to sit in the chairs and not move from there. I love kids, but there are cords, breakable objects, electrical equipment, hot wax, and chemicals that can cause serious injury.
There is no age limit or age requirement. Anyone under the age of 18 needs to bring a parent/guardian for consent to their first appointment.
Yes, absolutely! However, I do not offer male bikini services but can recommend a very good place to go for that.

Spray Tan FAQs
Spray tanning is safe and is the only safe method of tanning. Tanning beds are 12 times the radiation of the sun, and skin cancer is the most prevalent form of cancer in the United States today. Statistics show that more than 9,500 people are diagnosed with skin cancer per day. Spray tanning solution uses a natural and organically derived ingredient called dihydroxyacetone, or DHA, to enhance the color of your skin. DHA is a sugar-based product extracted from plants such as sugar cane and beets and is even recommended by the FDA for safe tanning.
DHA interacts with the proteins and amino acids in the outer layer of your skin causing a reaction that deepens the color, or “stains” your skin. Spray tanning solutions contain a bronzer component that colors your skin, mainly as a guide for your spray tan technician, and also for the appearance of an instant result. Depending on the type of solution used, either regular or rapid, the number of hours the solution needs to stay on your skin for your desired tan will vary, but is anywhere from 2 to 8 hours and can be left on overnight. The solution is then rinsed off, and it will continue to develop for another 24 hours.
No, no, and no. This is not your grandma’s spray tan solution. Spray tanning solutions have come a long long way since it was accidentally discovered in 1950 in a research facility in Chicago. The accidental solution was refined and then mass-produced in cream form by tanning companies such as Coppertone. In 1997, research by the Estee Lauder company identified why sunless tanning creams turned people orange. They converted the cream into a liquid and created the first formulation of the natural-looking tanning solutions that are used today. So no, you will not turn orange. You will look like you just spend 10 days on a sunny beach vacation.
NO. The only thing that protects you from the sun is applying sunblock. Or staying out of it. You will need to apply sunblock over your spray tan as you would without one.
To achieve the very best results, thoroughly exfoliate a few times in the days prior to your appointment and moisturize, moisturize, moisturize your skin. Nothing kills a spray tan like dry skin – legs and mature skin tend to be very dry. On the day of your appointment, do not use any oil-based products on your skin as well as perfumes, or deodorant, and for the best result on the face, no makeup. Many technicians will say skip moisturizer on the day of your appointment saying that it inhibits the absorption of the tan, but more and more it is being discovered that moisturizer on the day of the tan CAN be helpful, most especially if your skin is mature and or dry. **Just be sure the moisturizer does not contain any oil. Any shaving, waxing, and pedicure/manicure appointments should be done PRIOR to your spray tan as all three of these will remove the tan. You will receive Pre and Post-Spray Tan Care information.
You will want to wear something dark and loose fitting to prevent any staining and also prevent the tanning solution from rubbing off and possibly affecting your result. Avoid anything tight, restrictive, and white/light-colored. Natural clothing fibers are best, and some fibers will stain, especially lace and silk. Any spray tanning solution that does rub off onto clothing should generally come out in the wash.
We will go through a short consultation form that you will need to fill out either prior to your appointment (online) or when you arrive, to ensure all of your questions are answered and that we are on the same page with your desired result and any additives that you would like in your solution (see Spray Tanning Services page). I will leave the room and you will undress to your level of comfort. Some do not like tan lines at all and take everything off, but I also have disposable underwear for your convenience. You can also bring a bathing suit, or wear your own dark-colored undergarments – just keep in mind the solution will get on them and possibly cause staining. You will pull your hair back off your face and if long, put it up in the back and I will give you a hair net to protect your hair and to also prevent it from getting tanned. We apply a barrier cream to any areas that either do not need to be tanned or are extremely dry. You will stand in a spray tan tent as your spray tanning and drying procedure take place. If needed I will apply a drying powder specially formulated for post-spray tan use with a giant fluffy brush. You will then get dressed and be on your way! All in all, it should not take more than 15 minutes.
Not if you do not want to be. You are in control of how dark you want to be. There are several different solutions that offer varying depths of shade and tone.
The life of a spray tan is an average of 5-10 days, and with proper care can last a little longer. It varies from person to person and is dependent on lifestyle and the condition and care of the skin both prior to and after your tanning appointment. Your sunless tan will fade gradually just as a real tan would as the top layer of your skin naturally sheds dead skin cells. Certain things will definitely decrease the life span of the tan – excessive sweating, swimming pools, hot tubs, shaving, waxing, exfoliation, cleansing/showering products that contain acids/enzymes, and not moisturizing. Very dry skin may cause the tan to fade unevenly. I highly recommend and sell a high-quality tanning mousse with an application mitt to extend the life of your tan, especially if you are going on vacation and want it to last.
You can book another appointment as soon as 48 hours from your previous tan if you are trying to be very dark. If you desire to keep a consistent tan, every 7 to 10 would be what you want to do, and there are packages available to keep costs down if that is your goal.
Skincare FAQs
Skincare treatments, along with quality at-home skin care products, are not just a luxury, but work hand-in-hand to achieve and maintain healthy and radiant skin. During your treatment, you can expect a combination of deep cleansing, exfoliation, and hydration to address YOUR specific skin needs and concerns. In addition, facials provide a relaxing experience that can greatly help to reduce stress and tension, leaving you feeling refreshed and rejuvenated.
Each facial appointment begins with a complimentary skincare consultation focusing on your current health, activity level, diet, and home care routine. Then our skin therapists will customize your facial based on your skincare goals and needs. Your skincare therapist will educate you on the importance of skincare and offer the best home care regimen to follow.
Absolutely! Facials are beneficial for men too and can help reduce skin sensitivity from shaving as well as other concerns from lack of proper home skincare routines. If you do suffer from sensitivity after shaving, it is recommended that you do not shave immediately before your facial, as this can lead to irritation.
Absolutely, 1,000%. I specialize in the care of sensitive skin and use a line of products that were created specifically for sensitive and compromised skin. Your facial will be customized to YOUR SKIN, taking into consideration any allergies, sensitivities, and even medications you may be on.
Facial frequency depends on the condition of your skin and what your skin goals are. It could be monthly or even weekly. In general, getting a facial every 4 to 6 weeks is recommended to keep your skin in optimal health. It is also important to have an at-home skin care regimen. Your best results will be seen when we work together to nourish and maintain your skin.
Yes! There are certain product ingredients that are contraindicated for pregnancy that we will avoid. As you get further along into your pregnancy we will prop you up and give you lots of cushioning for your ultimate comfort.
To achieve the best results, at least one week prior to your treatment, discontinue the use of products that contain alpha hydroxy acids (glycolic, lactic, mandelic, citric acids), beta hydroxy acid (salicylic acid), benzoyl peroxide, and retinol. Do not shave or wax the treatment area the day of or less than 48 hours prior to your appointment. A more detailed set of pre and post-care will be sent to you.
Your skin will be prepped prior to any extractions with steam and a desincrustation solution, which is a solution that softens the sebum and keratin in the follicles to be extracted. This process helps to ease any discomfort. To extract, I use a small metal tool with an open loop on the end called a comedone extractor. If something does not come out easily, I will not attempt to force it out. In time it may work its way closer to the surface and then will be “ready” to be extracted.
Yes, you can, however, it is recommended to stay make-up-free for the next 24 hours to allow your skin to breathe and soak in the benefits it just received. If you must apply makeup, waiting for at least a few hours afterward is best as your skin may be more susceptible to irritation, even if it normally is not. Just remember to always remove your make-up at night. Always!
Yes, we can certainly collaborate to design a customized program suitable for your schedule and budget!
There are two ways to exfoliate the skin – physical and chemical. Physical removes dead skin cells by physically scrubbing. Chemical is when an enzyme or an acid is applied and it works to dissolve and peel off your top dead skin layer, revealing the fresh and bright new skin underneath. Imagine those dull skin cells being eaten away by pac-men. There are three different strengths of peels: light, medium, and deep. The peels that I use are light and involve zero “downtime.” These peel solutions use enzymes and acids found in pineapple, papaya, pumpkin, and pomegranate. They may produce a slight tingling or warm sensation when applied to your skin or you may feel nothing at all. Do not confuse “light” with ineffective. When done in a series these peels are extremely effective, producing amazing results. These are NOT the kind of peels that cause pain, burning, and excessive redness for an extended period. Your skin may appear flushed afterward which will subside within 24 hours. It is very important to apply SPF to your peeled skin afterward as it is more susceptible to sun damage and burning post-treatment. Applying sunscreen to your face, neck, and decollete is what you should be doing every day of the year, rain, shine, summer, or winter!
